Birthday Parties

Rules for the Nature Discovery Center:

  • NO petting zoos, pony rides, or moonwalks.
  • Please do not let the children remove anything from the park.
  • Please do not let children disturb or feed captive animals.
  • Please be sure to clean up your area completely and promptly.
  • Have an alternate plan for bad weather; birthday parties are not allowed inside the rest of the house.

Party Guidelines:

  • Parties may be scheduled Tuesday - Sunday from noon - 5:30 p.m.
  • Parties may be held in our pavilion area (directly behind the house) with a reservation and a current membership (family level or higher).
  • Parties must be paid for in advance.
  • Parties may be held on a first-come, first-served basis in any other area of Russ Pitman Park or Evergreen Park.

Discovery Room visits:

You may wish to have the children come to the Center?s Discovery Rooms for a fee of $2 per child. The visit will last about 30 minutes.

  • A staff person will guide the children and parents through both rooms and answer questions.
  • It is better to have the children come upstairs before refreshments (cleaner hands).
  • For our animal?s sake as well as fire codes, there is a maximum of 25 children and parents in the rooms at a time.

Available Party Programs:

You may wish to have a 30-minute program presentation with live animals and more, plus a special treat for the birthday child!

    • Bunny Buddies-Share a bunny story, learn all about rabbits, and pet a live rabbit. Toddlers to 2nd graders, but especially great for younger children.


    • Join the Insect Club-a fun & interactive puppet show about insects, spiders, and other animals. Great for pre-K to 2nd graders.


    • Scales and Tails-all about reptiles, including specimens and live animals to be touched like snakes, lizards, turtles, etc. This show is appropriate for children pre-K to 3rd grade.
