Children and adults share in the joy of discovery in our two Discovery Rooms which are open FREE of charge Tuesday through Sunday from 12pm - 5:30pm (closed on Monday). Hands-on, interactive exhibits, specimens, live animals to touch and observe, books to browse, and make and take crafts will provide you with many fun and memorable learning opportunities.
Small Discovery Room - Themed exhibit activities, specimens and displays in our Small Discovery Room are changed out monthly. Be sure to stop by to check out our August exhibit!
August: Hawaii - come learn about Hawaiian animals, habitats and volcanoes.
Our 23 Smithsonian-style Discovery Boxes, perfect for the casual visitor as well as the homeschooled child (pre-k through elementary school), are available year round in the Small Discovery Room. Our most popular box is "Herbs Your Nose Knows." Children use their sense of smell to make discoveries about herbs and their uses in everything from pizza to soap! Children are always eager to take home a sample of their favorite herbs.
Large Discovery Room - Exhibits in our Large Discovery Room come from our collection of seven Traveling Science Exhibits that we rent to schools and libraries throughout the year. These themed exhibits remain up at the Center for several months at a time.
Now on exhibit: The Sargasso Sea Come and venture through our Sargasso Sea to discover the variety of animals living in this unique environment! Be sure to check out our Sargasso Sea Special Event on Wednesday, August 4th from 6 to 9 pm.
