This year we have made some changes to our annual High Island/Anahuac spring migration trip. With rising bus costs and suggestions from many of last year’s participants, we entered the lottery for the Harris County, Precinct 3, free bus for seniors. Our thanks to Steve Radack and Harris County, Precinct 3, for providing this service. In order to ride on the bus you must be at least 50 years old on or before April 27th to be eligible to join us on this trip. We're sorry for any inconvenience.  The bus makes a great observation platform while birding Shoveler Pond and the roadside canals of Anahuac NWR.  Although there is no bathroom in the county bus, we will make many bathroom stops along the way.

Bird_pic_boardwalk.JPGThe second big change is that Fred Collins will not be leading the trip this year and has passed the torch on to Mary Ann Beauchemin (pictured to the left leading birders down a boardwalk on a previous trip), who has co-led this trip with him since it started.

We will provide juice, coffee, water and soft drinks. Bring your own snacks, lunch, insect repellent, binoculars and field guides. (If you need to borrow a pair of binoculars please let us know when you register.) Rain will bring down more birds for us to look at, so this trip will go regardless of the weather. Dress and be prepared accordingly. The trip will depart at 7 am from Evergreen Pool parking lot, on Evergreen Street at Newcastle in Bellaire, across from Russ Pitman Park and return by 7 pm.
