Nature Discovery Center Camps

Ages 5 & up Spend your summer at the Nature Discovery Center exploring energy, forests, grasslands, South American eology and cultures, and more! Each camp runs 9:30 - 3:30, Monday to Friday in the weeks of June 9 through August 11 (no NDC classes the week of July 4th). Bring a sack lunch! Snacks and water will be provided. Cost: Members:$190 per week Non-Members:$240 per week Dates and Topics: Get Up and Go!June 9 - 13 OR June 16 - June 20 Come explore with us as we dig into the world of fossil fuels, heat things up with solar power, and experiment with chemical reactions. We'll pump up our muscles as well as our brains in this active, investigative camp! Forest AdventuresJune 23 - 27 OR July 7 - 11 Can't see the forest for the trees? Is a forest in Texas pretty much the same as a forest in brazil or Russia? Come find out! join us and take a closer look at more than just the trees. We'll explore different forest habitats, the animals, trees and other plants that live in them, and how they depend on each other. South American ExplorersJuly 14 - 18 OR July 21 - 25 Come explore the other continent in the Americas ... South America. We'll journey through the Amazon, the Llanos, and the Great Atacama Desert. We'll discover the land, the flora, the fauna, and cultures of our neighbor continent to the South. Join us for a week of learning, games, art, and music. Grasslands SafariJuly 28 - Aug 1 OR Aug 4 - 8 There's more than just grass in grassland habitats! A wide variety of plants an animals make theeir homes both above and below the ground. We'll visit prairies here in the United States; journey down to the pampas of South America; explore the steppes of Asia, head to the savannahs of Africa; and, last, travel to the lesser known grasslands of Australia. Besides exploring the lives of native animals, we'll take a look at the people who call the didderent worldwide grasslands home.
