Watching Wildlife

Do squirrels scrambling about in the limbs of trees catch your eye? Do the sounds of songbirds bring a smile to your face? Do you stop short at the sight of a lizard puffing up its throat pouch? Then Russ Pitman Park is the place for you!

Russ Pitman Park is a great place for you, and your kids, to see local wildlife: from songbirds to honey bees, butterflies to lizards, they are all here – taking advantage of the lush grounds full of native plants that provide food and shelter. The variety of niches - from prairie, to wetland to open groves of trees- provide a rich living for a wonderful variety of animals all within strolling distance.

Birding in the Park

Explore the Park After Dark - we are offering themed, guided night walks this spring and early summer.  Come learn about the animals that are out and about in Russ Pitman Park once the sun goes down - including our resident owls, spiders and frogs.  These night "hikes" are perfect for adults and children ages 4 and up.  Registration is required.  Click here for our Park After Dark walk schedule, program details, and registration information.
